An early 20th century artist who did a lot of fantasy-horror illustrations, Sidney Sime illustrated many of Lord Dunsany's works and was a favorite of H.P. Lovecraft. However, he was an accomplished fine artist and this book includes examples of that work. This 127 page book is 11.75 x 8.25 inches in size, and many of the illustrations are full-page plates, so it's an excellent collection of both popular and more obscure works. They are all equally amazing.
This book has condition issues with the cover and binding (see below,) but the pages themselves are in very nice condition. This is an absolute must-have for the fan of Sime and the fantasy-horror illustration genre.
BOOK CONDITION
The softbound cover has smeared spots and had detached from the text block. The book has essentially broken in half and the glue that held the pages together is disintegrating, so the very best thing that could be done with this book is to either rebind it, or to separate all the pages and store it in a folder. Either effort would be a worthwhile endeavor, for the pages themselves are clean, clear, unmarked and untorn.
