These drawings find their way into my clay studio where they are happiest carved into clay. This carved clay then becomes hardened by fire then fresh porcelain is laid onto it, picking up those drawings and reflecting them as a mirror image of what the drawing had been.
In time colors emerge in powdered form of glass on the surface of the porcelain which is to be melted down in a fire that reaches over 2200 degrees F into liquid puddles of glass that encase the now raised texture of that design on all sides of the pendant in beautiful, rich colors. This particular porcelain clay set has undergone additional steps to etch the glossy surface away to reveal a rich satin matte underneath tones.
These glass covered porcelain pendants want to be made into jewelry or treasured in some way by you…
I often use these as charms for earrings or a delicate small pendant on a necklace. If you like these and want them as earrings ready to wear, just add a comment in the message to seller with what you would like, and I'll send you a paypal invoice for the upgrade.
The cost to receive these as earrings similar to what is pictured in the last photograph (wire wrapped bail on a french wire earring) is:
For Non-Tarnishing Base Metal Earring pair add $10
For a Sterling Silver Earring pair add $15.
All of the texture plates that I make to use for these designs are copyrighted by Marsha Neal Studio, LLC.
The original photograph of Becky Kolpak modeling the pendants was taken by Katy Timney of Katy Rose Photography: http://www.etsy.com/shop/KatyRosePhotography
