Join my page that's where I post previews of new coats and lace doily dresses♥
This actual coat is sold, but similar coats can be made as custom order. Please keep in mind that no two will ever be alike, so if you place an order I will work out the details with you from start to finish to be sure that everything is to your liking! They take quite awhile to make, so please keep this in mind!
A little bit about this particular coat♥
I thought it would be kind of fun to make up a line of coats that kind of tell a story, so this is the first of my "Storybook Coats"! I used to make and sell these coats in my first shop on Ney Alley in New Hope, Pa, all the way back in 1999. The main part of the coat is a vintage embroidered velvet jacket, and then I pieced together all sorts of vintage embroidered and patchwork velvets to make the skirt. The sweep of the skirt is huge at approx. 120" or 240" circumference so you can twirl the night away! The black cutwork pieces on the sleeves and back of skirt were salvaged from a damaged 1920's dress.
I did a bunch of hand done crewel work and machine embroidery on the jacket and skirt as well, and added fringes and trims to the hemline. There is a zipper on the front of the coat along with buttons, so if you want a slimmer fit at the waistline you can use the buttons. The little beads on the trim that hang from the sleeves jingle when you move you will love it!
