Directly from France is this antique French carved wood crucifix with porcelain corpus dating from the late 1800's. This is a stunning table top or altar crucifix. Carved of what appears to be mahogany wood, it has a beautiful lattice look. The intricate design is filled with numerous religious symbols, including the two obvious ones on each side of the corpus, the spear and the ladder. There are also fleur de lis and quatrefoil in the piece. The corpus is made of a beautiful unglazed French porcelain with gold gilded accents. The INRI banner above is also in porcelain. The crucifix measures 23" tall x 10" wide x 6" deep. Very detailed and ornate, the pictures don't do it justice. All the original nails. This is a very collectible, hard to find French crucifix with very intricate detail. Being over 130 years old, there are some minor age related flaws: there are minute cracking at the knees of the corpus that looks as though it has a very old repair. But overall, this piece is truly stunning!
