A flow of thoughts came to me after finishing this piece, below are the words that flowed out of me:
There is an infinite amount of layers in your life.
From what you are expected to do, to what you want to do, to the actual path that you end up taking.
To the results of your thoughts, the rewards and repercussions of your actions, your spontaneous decisions to well thought out plans.
To picking yourself up after you fall...hard.
To what you believe and what you doubt. To being certain to being torn to feeling confused on what you truly want.
To figuring out what is right for you when others may tell you it is wrong.
To learning to distinguish the difference between your heart, your mind, your instinct, intuition...and fear.
To figuring out who you are and how you fit in to it all.
To remembering to say thank you and excuse me and asking for forgiveness when you've made a mistake, even though your pride fights you and doesn't ever want to admit a failure.
To trying to remember every minute detail you are taught and trying not to be hard on yourself when you forget one of them...and also being understanding with others when they do the same.
To growing up and growing old even though you still feel like a kid deep down inside. To never letting your inner child die and letting it out to play as often as possible.
To loving like you've never been heart-broken and treating others like you've never been hurt.
To being honest even if it hurts to say the truth, taking criticism and being open and understanding to other points of view.
To understanding that nothing anybody does is because of you, it's not personal and everybody is living their own life and dealing with their own set of layers.
To taking chances, seizing opportunities and facing your fears.
To learning how to fall and get back up and realizing that you needed to learn that lesson even though it was painful.
To making it through the darkness even though you fear you can't take another minute.
To crying until you laugh and laughing until you cry.
To learning to love others for who they are because you finally accept and love everything about yourself, including those pesky flaws.
To realizing that if you wait for something/somebody to be perfect, you may very well wait forever.
To doing what you can with what you got.
To realizing you have a lot more to be thankful for than to complain about.
To appreciating the little things so when the big things come you are truly grateful.
To learning to not let fears from the mistakes of the past or the unknown of the future affect your present moment.
To choosing the right people in your life and moving away from the ones that are toxic.
To loving another with every part of your soul and learning how to love without attachment because you may have to one day let them go.
To learning how to be free in a world full of restrictions.
To realizing that you are the master of every situation and you always have a choice.
There are so many layers. So many paths. So many decisions to be made on a daily basis. So many choices...
Everybody seems to have an opinion on what is right and what is wrong while few realize right and wrong is different for each individual and there are no two souls that will feel exactly the same about everything. We are each so unique but we are also so similar.
What is true for you today may be false for you tomorrow. Change is constant, so we must appreciate cherish what we have when we have it and welcome the new when it arrives.
Explore the layers, love the layers and be the layers, as we are all a layer in the canvas in life with many layers inside and outside of us. Every experience, every thought, every moment...accept the layers and the questions that are birthed through them.
What is your path? Who are you? Why are you? You are here to ask the question, and to be the answer..
