Jaggery "Gur" or whole brown sugar is a pure, wholesome, traditional, unrefined, raw & whole form of sugar made with from fresh sugar cane juice with whole molasses intact and has a much better Glycemic Index. It contains the natural goodness of minerals and vitamins inherently present in sugarcane juice and this crowns it as one of the most wholesome and healthy sugars in the world. In Mexico and other South American countries, it is also known as “Panela” and in India as “Gur”.
How its made?
Raw sugarcane juice is squeezed and poured into large pales then slowly simmered and the moisture is progressively evaporated. Stirring and scooping the liquid constantly until the liquid starts to thicken and harden. The complete process is hygienic and most importantly 100% chemical-free.
What does is look, feel, taste like?
Jaggery (Gur, Panela) can be rich dark brown to light brown, dark yellow to light golden yellow in color. Color can vary from batch to batch and depends on the cooking time, crop type and maturity of sugar canes. Its feels a little sticky to touch and chewy to eat and tastes sweet with a hint of tangy flavor and very yummy!
