Our Sustainable Chopping Block will make a great addition to any cook's tools! Shaped as a truncated pyramid, it's so beautiful that you won't need to put it away for storage. And, it's just the perfect size for cutting and dicing those small items—garlic, herbs—from your pantry or garden.
Block size, Pyramic shape: 7" wide x 7" long x 2 1/4" thick
Made in reclaimed Douglas Fir, a hard wood widely used in structural elements of local NY buildings. Originally a ceiling beam of an early 1900's house, now turned into a chopping block. Who'd have thought this beauty, with its rich grain and red color, is almost a century old?
Our block has carefully been hand sanded using several grits—from coarse to superfine—to bring the grain up and achieve a smooth surface. It is finished applying several coats of best quality, first-cold press, pure olive oil to ensure the wood is fully hydrated. This process takes up to four hours.
To keep the wood moisturized apply olive oil regularly to your chopping block, every few washes. And it will last you a lifetime!
