Mandala Pots
In Sanskrit, "mandala" means circle or container. Mandalas are often used in Buddhism to aid in meditation and are often said to embody the completeness of the cosmos. In this sense, mandalas represent a sacred space or a place of nirvana protected by the impure mind. My Mandala Pots start as a series of wheel-thrown, egg-shaped cylinders, then using hand-building techniques, the cylinders are cut in half and arranged around a central vessel. The finished pots are water-tight and can be used as a vase, decorative item, or incorporated in your own meditation practice.
