MATERIALS AND METHODS
A handcut piece of sturdy nickel silver sheet is hand stamped with steel stamps, filed to remove sharp edges, then oxidized and polished to bring out the letters and make them easier to read from a distance. The metal is hammered for strength and will not easily bend.
Nickel silver is great because it's resistant to tarnish and rusting. It is also known as "German Silver" - it's an alloy consisting of 65% copper, 18% nickel and 17% zinc.
The tag pictured measures approximately 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide x 3 inches long (7.62 cm). On this tag size I can fit up to 3-4 lines of text, depending on font size.
