Salt crystals create the fractal effects in this painting - after watercolour paint is applied to wet paper, two different types of salt are hand sprinkled in (mostly) random patterns. The salt pulls up the paint around it, and is brushed off after the piece has fully dried. In some places, the spots left behind are where the salt has bonded to the watercolor paper.
This piece of art has been treated with a permanent protective clear finish coating, to keep your painting protected from sunlight, dust & humidity. I still recommend keeping it safe behind a frame!
Mats are not included, and are shown here for illustrative purposes only. The mats shown are 5"x7" in size, and fit the painting exactly.
