I have always been enchanted by the idea of a secret walled garden and these large stained glass roses inspired me to create a wall effect as their background.
The 'bricks' are vitreous glass tiles which have flecks and streaks of gold running through them which really catch the light. They vary from a pinky/gold/bronze to dark brown and some even have a purplish hue. The roses are cut by hand from semi opaque pale yellow (with streaks of white and orange) textured stained glass which have a rippled surface which contrasts with the rest of the materials used and adds interest..
The high quality mirror glass is framed with beige ceramic tiles with four pale orange glass tiles which pick out the soft orange streaks on the rose petals. I have used a creamy beige grout.
The base material is Mdf which has been painted black on the edges and reverse.Two D-rings and wire are fixed to the back so it is ready to hang on your wall.
The overall size is: 28.5 cm X 28.5 cm (11 1/4" X 11 1/4" ) approx.
The central mirror is 11cm x 11cm. (4 1/4" X 4 1/4" ) approx.
