This Battenberg style tape lace panel was once part of a bigger piece. What remains is about 39" long and 22" wide.

Best guess: Victorian, Edwardian to 1920s.

The predominant theme is huge flowers with thick puffy circles for centers, surrounded by more puffy circles, abstract leaves and more flowers.

One end is hand basted, the other is cut. Has seen use as a runner, window panel, dress panel, shawl or something, does have some small rusty stains on the borders.

I think someone tacked or nailed this up somewhere, and the oxidation from the tacks or nails left little rusty circles, as they are very evenly spaced.

OR, this piece was tacked to a lace pillow or something for a long, longtime.

There is some missing threads here and there in the large. open spaces, but much less than age would dictate.

Every inch of this tape lace was hand made. Mounted over a dark piece of fabric, it is going to be a work of art.
