Tektites are glass rocks, created when earth's stone liquefied due to the extreme heat and pressure caused by a meteorite impact. Their composition is similar to that of volcanic obsidian - both are glass - yet their origins and molecular structure are different.
There are four known strewn fields across the earth, yet the Australasian field is the only one where these amazing stones are collected.
