A new ecofriendly blank journal has been made out of this old unwanted school reader! Part of my Rebound Journal series, the covers are from a vintage school reader, “Sounds Jubilee” (1973) by Bill Martin Jr. Bill Martin books are one of my favourites!

This book was lovingly disassembled to allow the bookcloth to be reglued over the spine edge so there are no raw edges on the covers. Cover endpapers are made from the colourful flyleaves of the original book. Bound with waxed linen thread using a double needle coptic binding, leaving a lovely chain stitch on the spine. This allows the book to lie perfectly flat when open. The inside is filled with a generous 192 pages (counting both sides) of reclaimed large format computer paper with green lines and tractor feed perforations. Interspersed between the computer paper are some bright purple and magenta papers for a splash of colour! Each section of pages is wrapped with a piece of yellow paper, adding more colour to the spine of the book.

This journal measures 23.5 x 18 cm (9.25 x 7”).
