reads the sign on Rosebud's door. Rosebud is a new bunny so she sleeps a lot. She is my adaptation of the Debi Birkin "Sleepy Bunny" pattern and the newest of my knit bunnies.
Rosebud is knit from a very soft Mohair-blend yarn that is 76.5% acrylic, 10.5% wool, 10.5% Mohair, and 2.5% polyester. She is filled with 100% polyester fill. Her eyes and nose are hand embroidered with cotton embroidery floss. Like any new baby, Rosebud's muscles aren't well-developed yet so her head is floppy, however it is extremely well attached, strongly stitched with yarn. Stitches that go through her body are repeated over & over & over again. By being attached in this way, the bunnies feel even more real because they are able to turn their heads to either side as well as tip them back. Her arms and feet are also attached securely with a repetition of tiny stitches. While her arms are stationary, her feet are designed to be floppy, more like her head. The combination of her very soft, Mohair "fur," her plump, polyester filling, and her "loose-limbed" joints, make this a bunny that is irresistibly cuddly. It is very difficult to walk by her without picking her up~
From where she is seated, measured to the tips of her ears, Rosebud is approximately 12". Measured lying down, from the tips of her ears to the tips of her toes she is approx. 14". While definitely not tiny, Rosebud is the smallest bunny in my collection. The 100% acrylic yarn that I knit her sweater from is a beautiful, rich, heathered shade of raspberry. When I finished knitting her sweater, I put it on her, and the first thought that came to mind was "rosebud." She looked just like a little rosebud, all snuggly in her first sweater-sleeper - and that's how she got her name. I couldn't decide whether I preferred her sweater to tie with ribbons~ or with simple yarn ties. You will see it both ways in the pictures. I will leave it closing with the ribbons & include the yarn ties in case you'd like to change the "look" of the sweater a bit.
Rosebud~ created with love, 100% guaranteed to love you back!
**Because of the mohair exterior, this bunny isn't intended to be given to an infant. She shouldn't be given to any child under the age of 5; however, if placed high on a shelf in a baby's room, out of baby's reach, she is a wonderful addition to the nursery decor. She promises to sit there patiently, watching baby, and waiting five years till they can become close friends!
***Should Rosebud need a bath, she can be gently swished through lukewarm soapy water, (by hand,) then laid out to air-dry. Rosebud's sweater, being 100% acrylic is machine washable & dryable
~*~ Each of my bunnies is one of a kind, (OOAK) Each bunny is priced according to the degree of complexity in creating both the bunny & the outfit, as well as the number of hours required to make it. It usually takes about 6 full days of work to create a bunny from beginning to end. I use no patterns for their clothes, but create each outfit as I go, according to how I perceive each bunny's personality.
I hope you will enjoy! ~*~
