An absolutely lovely strapless 1950’s party/prom dress in an enchanting confection of soft orchid pink lace and tulle. This dress was likely originally designed as a wedding or prom gown and is certainly lovely enough to be worn at a very special occasion. No maker’s label but this dress appears professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend.
Note the details on this stunning dress – the strapless form fitting lace (boned) bodice with ruched wrapped tulle at the bustline, and the incredibly full skirt with cascading tiers of tulle and lace. There are three layers to this skirt – a pink satin acetate lining, a middle layer of tiered pink tulle to give the skirt additional volume, topped with an outer layer of the same pink tiered tulle trimmed in lace.
This dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in matching pink satin acetate. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.
No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a small size that would likely best fit a modern size 2 or 4.
Bust – 33-34”
Waist – 25-26”
Hips – full
Length – 42.5”
Torso length – 11” (strapless)
Skirt length (waist to hem) - 31.5”
This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. No breaks on the lace or tears in the tulle. There is one minor mention - a small (approx. 2”)repair to the tulle skirt at the hemline – this repair was professionally done using transparent filament thread and resembles a jagged seam. It is relatively inconspicuous, but mentioned for accuracy.
