On watercolor board or watercolor paper attached to cardboard.
His signature is on the lower right. It is very difficult to see. The last photo is enhanced so you may see the signature.
This wonderful rare little treasure was most likely painted in the 1950s or earlier.
His work was featured last year in a traveling exhibition, "Against The Grain". It featured modernist works by artists of the American Midwest for the period 1900-1950. The exhibit was at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend.
Condition: The painted surface appears to have darkened with age. There is a thin, lighter border around the edges of the painting where it was probably covered by a thin frame at one time. There are remnants of tape around the edges on the back.
