The second in a series of illustrated short story ashcan books, "Lost Bizenghast: The Black and White World" is an adapted version of an actual chapter from the Bizenghast saga that was CUT from the original series. It was given the axe just before it could be drafted as a complete chapter, but now it's back for you to read! Included with this story are never-before-seen concept sketches and thumbnails from the writing of the original chapter, plus author's notes!

And now for some FAQ!
WHAT IS AN ASHCAN?
An ashcan is a home-made booklet, usually utilizing photocopying and self-stapling:
WHY ARE YOU SELLING ASHCANS AND NOT REGULAR BOOKS?
Ashcans are my preferred method of making little booklets because there are no printer restrictions, like minimum page count and minimum print orders. The small page count that I do for most ashcans would be unprintable in novel format by most self-publishing outfits, because it's just too short. They also allow for greater freedom of format and have the potential to become worth more as collector's items in the future.
WHY DOES A PHOTOCOPIED BOOK COST THE SAME AS A BOOK I COULD BUY IN THE STORE?
Because I have to hand-make them and pay more to copy it myself, which costs WAY more than printing thousands of books as a professional printer with access to wholesale supply prices. Fans usually like to buy ashcans because more of the money actually goes to the author and not towards the publishers, distributors, store owners, etc. Which in turn allows me to actually pay some of my bills and have the freedom to continue the story.
Also, since technically my former publisher still holds partial rights to Bizenghast, I'm not allowed to print up full novels myself. But I can do these mini-books and still give fans the continued story, while getting around the rights restrictions. WE'RE STICKIN' IT TO THE MAN, FOLKS :)
So if you're willing to pay a little more to continue the series, then I thank you very much for your patronage and support and will do my best to always give you the most exciting stories! :)
Ashcan-style zine, 36 pages. Note that these books are print-on-demand.
