This is a vintage Japanese painting art "saxifrage (Yukinoshita in Japanese)". The leaves of the Japanese variety "yukinoshita" (literally "Under the snow") can also been eaten, and is consumed at least within the large southern island of Kyushu. The Latin word saxifraga means literally "stone-breaker", from Latin saxum ("rock" or "stone") + frangere ("to break").

Saxifraga From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "showa" period is from 1926-1989 but this at about 30 years old. It is written on a paper board called "shikishi". This is in excellent condition but it is vintage so there are imperfections. There are "dots" on the paper board which are related to its age.

This would be perfect for decorating it on the wall at home.

It measures 24cm wide x 27cm long.
