These recycled-metal belt buckles are my original design. All of the small pieces are cut from old, retired and vintage license plates with heavy metal shears and clamps.
This colorful mosaic-like silver belt buckle is inlaid with 'tiles' of recycled license plate metal. The metal pieces are measured, cut, hammered, and filed to create a unique, and distressed style buckle. Each bit of license plate edge is filed and sanded before being artfully arranged, and cemented into place on the buckle.
I am all about the beauty and textures of aged and painted metal so I would never cover that up with a plastic laquer coating. You will be able to feel the actual ridges and bumps impressed on the metal, but I have eliminated all sharp edges. As a final step the buckles are hand waxed, and buffed, multiple times, to preserve their beauty. Will take a 1.5" - 1.75" snap-on belt (not included, but available in my shop).
This listing is for the buckle pictured in the first photo. Each of my buckles is different. Some have reflective pieces. Some have numbers or letters. All are a mix of colors. I have sold these buckles to men and to women.
** THIS LISTING IS FOR THE BUCKLE ONLY. The buckles in the last 2 photos are already sold and are for illustration purposes only. (These gorgeous models are buckle owners and husbands to Etsy sellers XoUda and TreeParlor. Check out their shops for a vintage bonanza and custom made dog clothing.) See below for belt options.
The buckle is shown with a highly distressed brownish/black leather snap-on belt. If you would like the belt as well as the buckle please say so in the comments section and I will send you a revised invoice for an additional $18.00 (total $64.00 + shipping). Let me know the belt size (or hip or waist size) you would prefer as well.
Or you can order one of the belts directly from my shop listings. Click on the BELT category to find the snap-on belt. All of my belts have been hand finished by the manufacturer and each distress pattern is unique.
