A beautiful large sized mercury glass vase dating to the late 1800s/early 1900s. Piece appears to be made in Bohemia which would date it from 1840 to 1920. The front of the vase is hand painted with a lovely pink rose and there are painted stripes around the top and bottom areas. It measures 11 1/2" high, 4 3/4" at the base and 3 1/2" at the top. As you know, these were decorative pieces and not really used to hold flowers as the cavity in the top is quite shallow. Would work great to hold a pillar candle. It is in good condition with no cracks or chips but there is some minor wear in the painted decorations as well as the typical tarnish and age darkening you will see on antique mercury glass pieces. Overall he piece is bright...most of the tarnish is around the bottom area. Bottom seal is missing. A gorgeous piece to add to your mercury glass collection!
