Here is an awesome triangular Shattuckite cabochon. It comes from an extra rare location in Arizona. My geologist friend mined it himself, and not from one of the usual mines that this comes from. He's keeping the exact location a secret, but it is near or in the Grand Canyon. Shattuckite is a very rare mineral. It is named after the Shattuck Mine near Bisbee, AZ where it was first discovered. It was also later found at the 76 mine in Arizona, and more recently in Africa. The material from this top secret location is embedded in quartz, along with ajoite and several other minerals. The quartz in it's composition gives it great durability, and an excellent shine.

I cut and polished this cab myself and it will make a wonderful centerpiece for your jewelery creations. It has and excellent polish and will work wonderfully in a bezel setting. There is one small area on the edge where the stone is not polished and is in it's natural state. I left it this way because if I cut it out it would have made the stone slightly smaller (perhaps 5-10 cts) and it will be covered by the bezel anyway. This rare material is extremely hard and durable (I've dropped cabs on cement from 5 ft while cutting with no chips!) So, no it's not a chip in the stone, that's just how I made it. I have a few more cabs I've cut of this rare material, so if that little imperfection is a deal breaker, convo me and I may have another cab that suits your taste. Supplies from this location are quite limited ( I only got a couple of rough stones from my friend) so don't miss out!
