A very interesting piece of ephemera from World War II, this ten page brochure, which measures 8 inches by 5 1/2 inches, explains what the purpose was and why Americans should purchase Savings Bonds. The whole booklet is illustrated with brilliant and dramatic color patriotic illustrations, very typical of the time. There is no date on this booklet, however, the introductory statement was signed by Henry Morgenthau Jr., who was the U.S. Secretary of The Treasury under President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
This booklet is not in perfect condition. The front cover has three small places along the fold where it had been attached to a page in a scrapbook. There is also a small stain on the top over the word "Land". The final page shows some small signs of cellophane tape having been used to keep it in the book, but those flaws are slight. The pages show some signs of it having been looked at many times. But it is a piece of history, it has held up nicely, with no major tears or flaws.
