My photos do not do justice to the richness of the color palate or the complexity of the surface. I especially like the disappearing stairs in the background and have always wondered where they might lead. I have seen quite a few other big eye paintings with the subject turned away from the viewer but this the first I can recall that includes a model with a bare bottom.
The painting is signed "Abruzzi" in the upper left hand corner. It measures 15 inches wide by 30 inches high. The masonite has held its shape well over the years and is free of any warping. At some point in time, two boards were glued across the back. I do believe this was done later than the creation of the work. At present there is no means of suspension but you could easily screw a wire into the top board and hang this without a frame. Or, you could add a frame of your choosing, though I hardly think it requires one as it stands strong on its own.
The overall condition is very good. The masonite shows through in a few areas on the body of the work but I believe that this relates to the making as there is a surface gloss covering these areas. I do see some minor wear to the edges, nothing serious at all, and totally in keeping with the semi-rough nature of the application of the paint.
The shipping fee is for USPS Priority Mail shipping. If the actual costs are much lower I will cheerfully refund the difference. I promise to wrap it with TLC and common sense. I am also amenable to a local pickup if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and are willing to make the drive to the Berkeley side and pay with cash, USPS money order or local personal check.
