This blend is the same as the original, but I added Indian Warrior {Pedicularis densiflora} a rare and unusual medicinal herb that adds a little more mellow to the blend.
I created this blend to bring to you the sacred ritual of smudging. The herbs in this blend are intended to bring you relaxation, peace and cleansing. Perfect for your personal rituals.

All of the Pedicularis' are tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, powerful aphrodesiacs, and sedatives. They are often employed medicinally for muscle pain and tension, particularly back pain. Pedicularis are also used for their psychological effects, good for anger, fear, pain, anxiety. At least one Native American tribe is known to smoke the flowers of certain Pedicularis species for their medicinal effects and narcotic effects. These plants are a welcome addition to any smoking mixture both as flavor and a narcotic. Elephant's Head is claimed to have the best flavor but is the mildest, but every Pedicularis has an excellent taste. P. Densiflora being the most potent species.
The narcotic effects however are profoundly different. Pedicularis are somewhat rare plants found in mountainous regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Since they are semi-parasitic, supplementing its photosynthesis with thievery and are not at all easy to cultivate, these factors make them very rare in Ethnobotanical collections. Cheyenne Indians made it into a tea to break up a cough.

Mullein is a fine medicinal for the lungs, even when you smoke it. It soothes inflamed or infected lungs, and prevents coughing until infection or inflammation is broken. Then it aids in expectoration, helping to break up congestion and promote "effective" coughing. It was smoked to stop the coughing of tuberculosis years ago. It is wonderful for any kind of lung cleansing. Very gentle and non-toxic, you can use it anytime. It also provides an excellent texture and flavor for the base of a smoking blend.

Yerba Santa is a great upper respiratory herb. It has a resinous coating and is aromatic. Use as a tea, smoke or tincture for coughs, lung and sinus congestion. Drink the tea hot to induce sweating to break a fever. Inhale the steam from the hot tea to clear sinus and chest congestion. It thins mucous and is useful as an expectorant, decongestant and bronchial dilator for chest colds, bronchitis, asthma, sinus infections and hay fever. The resin complex and phenols in Yerba Santa make it useful for mild bladder and urethra infections. Since these properties are only partially water soluble, an alcohol tincture is preferable, twenty to thirty drops in water several times per day. Yerba Santa has no specific toxicities in moderate doses and up to an ounce of the leaves can be used to make a tea or infusion to drink in one day. It is safe for children, using one half of the normal adult dose. The leaves can also be used in a vaporizor to relief congestion.
Inhaling smoke from Yerba Santa leaves is useful to calm mild bronchial spasms. Burning a Yerba Santa smudge can be used to warm up trigger points, espeically on the hands and feet. This will give relief from headache and muscle spasms. The fresh leaves make a pleasant and tasty chewing gum, bitter and balsamic at first, with a sweet aftertaste which freshens the mouth and breath.

Manzanita leaf (and bark if you wish) is a strong astringent with body and flavor that can be too
harsh to smoke alone. The leaves may be difficult to break into small pieces. Mix it in small amounts with other herbs, and it will work just fine.
Manzanita has an unusual relationship with fire. Manzanita is fire slowed down and embodied into a plant. Just look at its red bark and wispy habit. Manzanita evolved with fire. If Smoky the Bear wasn't in charge of fire suppression, most ecosystems with Manzanita would burn naturally on a regular basis. Old thick unburned Manzanita eventually becomes unhealthy. Burning doesn't kill the plant, it invigorates its growth and is necessary for germination of the seeds.
