A most perfect vintage little black dress, circa 1950s by Sa' bett of California. Constructed of an excellent quality fabric that has the look and feel of a polished medium-weight cotton pique: soft yet with great body and a subtle sheen. Gorgeous deep shining black. Classic, flattering construction, with wide squared neckline, darted bodice, wide cummerbund-style banded waist, and pleated full skirt. The back of the dress dips deliciously low and is squared off with a flat, wide bow detail--elegant yet playful & seductive. Deep hand-tacked hem. Zips up the back and fastens with a hook & eye; bow detail fastens over the zipper with a metal snap. Exceptionally well made with couture-like attention to detail. This dress is a stunner, and a timeless wardrobe staple.
Lying flat and zipped, the dress measures approximately:
Bust: 17-18" with shaped cup
Length of dress: 39"
Condition is excellent, and appears clean and very well cared-for. There is the faintest smudge near one shoulder that is hardly noticeable, and I would guess that a professional cleaning would eliminate it. It is otherwise clean and ready to wear.
