Cast iron arched wall grate/vent from the JL Mott Iron Works.
The J. L. Mott Iron Works was established by Jordan L. Mott in New York in the area now called Mott Haven in 1828; the business was continued by his son, J.L. Mott, Jr. The elder Mott specialized in the manufacture of cooking-stoves fueled with anthracite coal. This beautiful ornate piece of architectural history measures 30" x 33" and includes the hard to find double surround framing pieces, louvers(rusted shut) and louver adjusting piece.
The door has a unique scrolling pattern and all pieces fit together as designed.
