When I came upon this incredibly charming dried shrub, I knew it is something else, and I was waiting, listening to its whispers what it wanted to become. After some time spent brewing possible ideas, and digging through my materials, once this lovely large rose quartz was in my hands, and knowing that my son, Djordje, has amazing soft pink paper:
everything set in place! A large salvaged piece of ebony was obviously waiting to join the above team.
Yes, it was a long process to develop the proper size and shape of Sakura, Prunus serrulata, Japanese Cherry blossoms. Each petal carefully hand thorn in order to obtain its soft, delicate and mesmerizing richness. Green hand-dyed washi was also hand torn for the sepals.
As you can see, it is rather large, resembling true bonsai that would take more than 15 years to reach that size (it is 16 by 17 inches long / wide, and 16 inches tall).
Why enchanted? Well, it is said that rose quartz means love. This bonsai is build with love, and I am hoping it can be seen and felt. Gem itself was found not too far west from Winston Salem:
