Turquoise Blue Green Raku Crackle Lidded Jar

This is a lidded jar with a turquoise blue crackle glaze using a raku technique. It was fired to cone 05 in an oxidation firing. While still hot it was crackled over a fan and placed in a trash can filled with newspaper to generate smoke. The smoke filled in the cracks with black. The inside created a reduction environment after the glaze melted leaving a beautiful copper red/orange luster. The piece was hand thrown in one piece with the lid being cut from the form itself resulting in a very tight lid. by Liz
