This is my adaptation of Brenda Gervais's Peter & Peep punch needle pattern. I have turned it into a wool applique pattern with a few minor changes of my own.
I used black wool for the front and back panels. The top has 4 wool yellow tongues and each has a white button sewn along the bottom curve. The bunny is tan and has a hand dyed pink/gray shirt and blue shorts. The collar, sleeve and bunny tail are all white. He is pulling a brown cart with a yellow chick riding. The wheel is gray and has 5 cut-outs for an ox-cart look. The tulip is lavender colored and has a green stem and leaves.
I only used the blanket stitch or whip stitch. Except for the eyes. in which i made a French knot with black floss.
My initials JKB were hand stitched in the lower right corner. Also black rickrack stands in for the handle--a nice touch I think!
The bag measures 7 inches at the widest and 7 1/2 high--not including the rickrack. It is also lined with black polyester lining fabric.
This primitive folk art ditty bag is just the thing to hang on your wall or pegged shelf or your primitive cupboard. This ditty bag is sure to please!
