The upholstery manufacturer lists this color as “Poppy,” but that simple noun just doesn’t do it justice. More appropriate would be something like “flaming poppy,” or “blood orange flambé with poppy sauce,” or “poppy field consumed by lava flow.” It’s an exotic and indescribable hue halfway between orange and awesome, equal parts fire engine red and fire, a common relative to Kool Aid Man and the Oompa Loompa, and who can possess its unique and indescribable brilliance? You can.
Made to be both durable and responsible, the bench was handmade with a hardwood frame of FSC certified poplar, corner blocks of reclaimed oak, webbing suspension of renewable jute, and premium high density foam cushioning for years of comfort. The fabric is a traditional 100% wool upholstery felt from Knoll Textiles and has been certified by the international third party Oeko-Tex for human safety (contact me if you’d like to request a swatch, or for more information on the fabric, visit the Knoll website at http://www.knoll.com/knolltextileproductdetail/Knoll+Felt).
This bench can also be built in a vibrant palette of colors, with the option of spindle legs in solid oak or walnut, as well as custom sizes for those looking to fit a specific space (larger sizes may require an adjustment in price, email me the dimensions you require and the zip code where it will be shipped for an exact quote). For a truly custom option, buyers are welcome to provide their own upholstery. The bench requires 1.5 yards of fabric, and the only requirement is that it should be medium to heavy weight with as little stretch as possible.

SHIPPING – The bench will ship to your door via Standard Post for a flat rate of $30 anywhere in the continental United States. Local delivery to the Portland area (within 30 miles of 97213) is also available and free of charge. Please note that the legs will be removed for safety during shipping. They easily reattach by hand without the need for any tools, and the bench will be ready for use two minutes out of the box.
