This is how I made the originals: I used two different new pieces of felted Pendleton® blanket wool and a felted plaid wool (will use wool patterned Pendleton® or plaid wool afghan) afghan to make the uppers. I added a leather placket on the sides and used Pendleton® wool bias tape (leather instead of wool bias tape) to make the lacers. I used leather shoe laces and sewed rabbit fur balls to the ends of the laces. Slipper boot uppers are hand crocheted and blanket stitched with artificial sinew to the foot sections. Entire boot upper is hand sewn blanket stitched to the soles. Soles are made with four layers. 1.) heavy weight new shoe leather bottom layer 2.) additional heavy leather heel pieces 3.) thick felted Pendleton® blanket wool - full sole pieces and 4.) genuine sheepskin insoles (cut from sheepskin men's or women's sheepskin coats that I buy at thrift stores.
Slipper boots also feature sheepskin trim at mid portion of boot.
I can make these boots with many different Pendleton® wool blanket fabrics that I have in my workshop. Please contact me if you would like to see different fabrics available.
When ordering, please be sure to send your barefoot measurements. I need length and width in inches or centimeters (taken barefoot) to ensure a good fit for you.
