I love things that look like they could be future artifacts from our life time. What will the archeaologists think in 100 years?
This handmade button is NOT painted. This is done using a custom glaze treatment designed by me. I kiln fired the several layers of matte colors onto the raw clay button to create the effect. I call this "faux raku" because the resulting colors are similar to raku but will last longer and be more stable over time, as real raku is subject to color change over time due to oxidation.
These buttons remind me of something otherworldly, dreamlike, celestial. I think of the universe, the moon and the night sky and aurora borealis every time I look at the buttons from this collection. To view more of my buttons, look here:

This button is 1.75 inches x 1.0 inches. The holes are 0.25 inches.
All of my ceramic pieces are twice fired for strength and durability, with the 2nd firing reaching over 2200 degrees (Cone 6) in an electric kiln.
