Megan McIntosh
Mixed media, 7’x9’
I get up from my chair to change out of my street clothes and into my open front gown. Putting on the gown transforms me from an individual to just another object for the gynecologist to check out. As I open the curtain, I am startled. My heart rate increases. A group of speculum birds are waiting. Standing there with their mouths open, as if they are my chicks and I’m there to feed them from my vagina.
This bird is carved from laminated wood and adorned with black and yellow feathers. It has metal feet and a metal speculum for a face. measures approximately 15"x7"x8"
