A look for little chibis who don't always want to be so pink and princess-y. It's a little edgy: the whole underlayer is black, and the primary colors suit those who'd rather swash-buckle all ye land lubbers than preside over them. Fiercely colorful (of course!), but way more hip than just a fluffy white cloud of a skirt (don't get me wrong, cloudy skirts get love too in our house!). I just adore those fun Japanese fabrics with their surfing samurai octopi, bears in dolphin suits, sno-cones, and onigiri!
Done in a pettiskirt fashion, it features super soft nylon chiffon cascading with ruffles upon more ruffles in bold painter's palette of neon oranges, chartreuse, blues, greens, blacks and reds all tied up with a simple black bow!
Traditional pettiskirts are topped with satin, but I wanted something cuter. Something edgier. I wanted to stray away from the saccharine, stereotypical pink and purple girly look with this pettiskirt so I choose a fun kawaii fabric from Kawaii Fabric Shop here on Etsy. This super silly and totally rad fabric has a sky blue background with little kawaii Hawaiian aquatic creatures, hula dancers, coconut drinks and many other adorable and funky icons!
This skirt is amazing all on its own, but it will also add fullness to any skirt or dress with a rainbowy ruffled bottom peaking through!
Because of the adjustable elastic waistband, this skirt fits a wide range: from my chubby 7 month old to my lean 4 year old and possibly even more ages than that! In fact, I think it would fit me, but then the skirt would be really short! The elastic cinched all the way is 16" around (but could be loosened about 7" or maybe more) and is 13.5" from top tier to bottom. The nylon chiffon naturally will not fray around the edges. All seams are also serged for a professional finish and added stability to the skirt.
