I’ve fallen in love with the gemstone Labradorite which is truly a beautifully fascinating stone. It’s a stone whose charm is not fully noticed and may be overlooked if not viewed from the proper position which can produce a colorful play of light across faceted planes and in sliced sections. The intense colors range from the typical slate blues and violets to greens, yellows and oranges. I tried very hard to demonstrate the range and beauty of all the colors in my photographs, however, the pictures do not do this piece justice. At first glance this necklace appears to be slate blue but once the light hits the gems the colors explode! The pendant was hand-wrapped with 18 gauge antique brass wire then hammered, giving it a rustic look. I hand-wrapped each faceted Labradorite coin bead using solid antique brass wire and linked them between a trio of Picasso Czech glass beads in coordinating colors. The necklace attaches using an ornate toggle clasp.
This necklace measures approximately 22 inches long with the pendant dropping an additional 1 3/4 inches.
