I've made a freeform setting for the freshwater pearl, using 20 gauge round wire. The setting itself is hammered in a few locations to give it shine; the setting is then soldered to the ring using 14K hard solder. The completed ring is polished, using both a tumbler and the rouge wheel on the buffing machine.
The final step is to set the pearl. This is a lustrous, creamy white freshwater pearl; an irregular shape of approximately 10mm. The ring is a size 6 and is one of a kind.
