The first Love stamp, issued in 1973, proved so popular that a second stamp was issued in 1982 and then again in 1984 and 1985. Although the Love stamp was usually issued in time for use on Valentine's Day mail, it was intended to enhance cards and letters on many other special occasions throughout the year such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. This Love with Roses stamp was issued in 1988 specifically denominated to meet the 45 cent two ounce rate often needed to post wedding invitations in those days.

Postage Tip: Adhering your stamps: Most stamps come with gum on the back that becomes sticky when moistened. Feel free to go old fashioned and lick your stamp before placing it on the envelope. OR You can use a glue stick - Elmer's brand works particularly well.
