Gray Tabby Kitty against background of light purple flowers. This white stoneware yarn bowl has been hand thrown and the image of a green-eyed gray and black tabby cat pushed out from inside to form a high relief image. The yarn feeds out of the cats mouth for a permanent feed but there is a tail-like cut out in the back of the bowl if you want to change yarns out. Cats are usually the reason that people use yarn bowls so it's a little ironic, though appropriate, that a cat should be the main feature of one. If you set a smaller plastic bowl inside of this one it can also be used to hold flowers. I made my first Knitty Kitty a year ago - cut and paste this YouTube video to see a Knitty Kitty at work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maidofclay/5644922810/in/photostream

This bowl measures 3-7/8 (almost 4" high) by 6" wide and is signed on the bottom along with the words "Knitty Kitty". The tabby cat and the floral background have been hand painted with underglazes and fired twice up to over 2,100 degrees in a ceramic kiln.
