The beginnings of this inspired piece was a rugged, unique and highly textured art yarn from the wheel of extraordinarily talented Etsy artist, mymixmix.etsy.com. I saw cowboys(!), up in the high country, riding the plains (can't you just hear the moan of a lonely wind?), and knew the perfect compliment had to be this versatile grey granite-like winter weight acrylic/wool. With the primitive spin of this art yarn, in shades of wheat, copper and cream, and with gold and denim calico wraps and flags to provide further textural interest, the combined package will have you looking for your campfire-stompin' cowboy boots.
And to complete and enhance the southwest flavor is this space-dyed silk ribbon, from the studio and dye pots of equally talented Etsy artist, dedriquillin.etsy.com. Beautiful in its subtlety, this ribbon has been dyed in shades of dark blue and a soft midnight black. The arm seams are crocheted in this same ribbon, using a wide stitch to further the feeling of ruggedness.
("I'm an old cowhand ..." ... on my way to lunch with the girls on the deck at the marina ...)
Looking beyond stomping around campfires, this versatile shrug will dress up your jeans, take you to a weekday lunch, weekend nights out, and be just the right amount of coverup for a weekend getaway. Or simply wear it in front of your own "campfire" on the couch.
