A piece of writing instrument history.
Pencils have been continually made in Cumberland, in England's Lake District, since the 16th century when according to local legend a graphite deposit was uncovered during a violent storm. A pencil cottage industry developed and Cumberland pencils became famous and popular among artists. In 1832 the first UK pencil factory was founded, which became the Cumberland Pencil Co. in 1916.
Nib holder pictured with ink wells and paperweight (not included).
Happy to combine postage.
