"You can chase a butterfly all over the field and never catch it. But if you sit quietly in the grass it will come and sit on your shoulder." ~Author Unknown
I love breaking down old jewelry and rebuilding it so to speak. This garden shrine necklace is made from the remains of several different colored vintage bead chains and one of my favorite shadowbox charms.
The shadowbox pendant holds 4 beautiful original collages all done with a garden/butterfly theme. I used a locust wing, dried pressed roses, vintage dictionary clippings, a piece of a butterfly wing, a stamp, and several vintage illustrations (fleur, ladybug, flowers)
Inside this piece sits a tiny, dingy ceramic arm that gently holds a tattered blue butterfly which for me is a huge symbol of rebirth and transformation. The butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives. She understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of nature – and she asks us to recognize the same :)
With no real front or back this necklace can fall either way and always be reveiling something beautiful. The pictures honestly do not do this necklace justice, it is a very strong piece that I'm sure you will absolutely fall in love with<3
The shadowbox measures 2" tall and 3/4" wide, and the patchwork bead chain measures almost 28"
Because I dig through vintage/antique stores, flea markets, and estate sales for all of my materials, I can promise you that none of my pieces will ever be duplicated, and truly are and will be one of a kind. :)
Love, Mystarrrs..
