This handmade plate is a perfect piece to complement your every day meals as well as your special meals. I threw these plates on the wheel out of stoneware clay. The variations in earth tones come from firing in a wood and soda kiln. The kiln is designed to burn wood pallets discarded from local industry and headed for the trash pile. By reclaiming this wasted source of energy, it is my small contribution toward sustainability. The wood flame, ash and soda vapors create variations in rich, warm earth tones from earthy browns to rich dark reds.
