This trio of women represents the concept of the triple goddess, depicting the stages of womanhood in the youthful and hopeful maiden, the fertile and life-giving mother, and the wise and self-assured crone. The "seeds" of youth circle the belly of the pregnant mother as the crone's owl feathers dance around her head. The mother figure also wears a necklace with a triquetra symbol which is a celtic design that has been used to represent this concept of the triple goddess and the 3 stages of womanhood. I created this image when I was pregnant with my daughter and I used this piece to explore my feelings about my new role as a mother, as well as my place in womanhood as a whole. This print would make the perfect gift for a new mother or just a strong woman in your life.
