The Sea of Cortez separates Baja California from mainland Mexico. It is the home to 5 of the worlds's 8 species of marine turtles. These endangered creatures feed in the Sea of Cortez, some of them migrating to Japan and back. This wonderful porcelain sea turtle by Laura Mears was the inspiration for this neckpiece. Entirely hand bead embroidered, this neck piece includes a beautiful cabochon of Chrysocolla and Malachite, amber and turquoise cabochons. It is embellished with thousands of tiny seed and bugle beads. The necklace measures about 16 inches in circumference and is secured with a gold plated clasp. The necklace measures 7 inches from the neckline to the bottom of the fringe which is comprised of brass dangles and glass daggers. This is truly a one-of-a-kind creation and is backed with ultra suede and signed by the artist.
