This kit includes everything you need to make one 16″ by 18″ (40 cm by 46 cm) table and/or picnic mat, including:

- - Fully illustrated instructions
- - Materials for transferring pattern onto fabric
- - Sashiko needle
- - Sashiko yarn in white and variegated pinks & purples (100% cotton)
- - Variegated blue fabric for stitching the design (100% cotton)
- - Heavy cotton fabric for backside
All materials included in the kit are of the highest quality and have been made in Japan. You will need to supply your own scissors, pins, and needle and thread. A sewing machine isn’t required, but it might be nice.
This design was inspired by the fluttering of petals as they fall from sakura trees on a breezy day. I love to stand underneath the trees and watch them swirl around me. The design is stitched using high quality, 100% cotton sashiko thread in pinks and white onto a gradated blue cotton fabric. It may look like just the lighting in the photos, but the fabric actually changes from dark blue to light. Sometimes this shading reminds me of the sky, and sometimes a stream.

The Spring Hanami kit is perfect for beginner to intermediate stitchers, or those with some embroidery experience. Illustrated instructions guide you through the project step-by-step, and provide additional information via online tutorials and tips.
Unlike other sashiko kits where patterns are printed directly onto the fabric, these patterns are traced onto fabric using carbon paper. This process provides more freedom for design and allows you to reuse patterns, even combine patterns in other designs. Materials included in this kit are for one placemat, but you'll be able to use the pattern and carbon paper again and again.
The patterns included in this kit are original Saké Puppets designs, inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetic with a modern twist. All materials included are of the highest quality, and fabrics have been pre-washed using all-natural detergents. Kits are assembled in my smoke-free, pet-free studio in the heart of Tokyo, Japan.
