Skill level:
Intermediate. You need to know how to make encased stringers of various thickness, and have enough heat control to handle a plum-sized gather of molten glass. Also, you must be able to encase beads. I assume you know the lampwork “lingo”, and that you are familiar with a lampwork studio setup and safety procedures.
Tools needed:
Parallel mashers, mandrels, graphite marver, tweezers, round bead roller/press (optional). It is also handy to have a knife or “raking” tool, whether it be an old dentist pick or a dedicated lampwork tool.
Glass:
A selection of opaque and transparent glass in colours that you like. In the tutorial demo I used Effetre opaque turquoise, transparent aqua, opaque white, opaque lime green, transparent lime green, clear.
