Portuguese knitting appeals to me because it is easier on your hands than continental or throwing methods. I began to have discomfort in my hands when I was knitting this fall and began researching alternative methods. I found great videos on youtube instructing the technique, but had a difficult time finding a knitting pin. I also have an aversion to pins poking through my clothes. Here is my solution! This flower is adorable and highly functional. The magnets are quite strong (they even connect through my sweaters and most of my jackets) and the hook is sturdy.
To use, simply place the flower near your left shoulder and secure the leaves beneath your shirt. Depending on the style of shirt you are wearing, the leaves will either be invisible or will poke out around the neckline (my favorite look). The yarn is then secured on the hook and you are free to knit away!
The flower measures 2.5" alone and 3.5" with leaves.
It is made from wool blend felt, hand embroidered, and affixed with a brass hook and repurposed button center. Magnets are sewn into cotton cloth at the back.
