All proceeds from these beads (minus fees and shipping) are going to OCD-UK (Reg. charity #1103210).
OCD-UK is the charity dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of almost one million children and adults in the UK whose lives are affected by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
OCD is a serious anxiety-related condition. Sufferers experience frequent intrusive and unwelcome obsessional thoughts, often followed by repetitive compulsions.
The illness affects as many as 12 in every 1000 people (1.2% of the population) from young children to adults. OCD can be so debilitating that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has ranked OCD in the top ten most disabling illnesses of any kind, in terms of lost earnings and diminished quality of life.

OCD-UK has a spiral-branched tree as part of its logo: the spirals represent the thought patterns that sufferers get caught in. When deciding on a design to use for this range of beads, I went with scrollwork - my beads have spirals, but no two beads have exactly the same design. This invokes the imperfection and uncertainties of life, which OCD sufferers have to learn to embrace in order to quell their anxieties. (Much easier said than done!)
I make these lentils in other colour combinations and larger or smaller sets: convo me if you're after something different. You can see examples in the fourth photo. For my other OCD-UK listings see my shop section http://www.etsy.com/shop/HeatherKellyGlass?section_id=11355073
Dimensions: 21mm lentils, 9.5mm thick, made on 2mm mandrels.
I am a member of Glass Beadmakers UK (GBUK).
I make my lampwork glass beads in my London studio using a Nortel Minor torch. All beads are annealed in a digitally-controlled kiln to remove the stresses introduced to the glass when it is worked.
Please note that colours may vary when viewed on different monitors. I check that they are as accurate as possible when viewed on my own.
