This gorgeous pair of vases are in a baluster shape with bright and vivid colours on a matte black background. They are decorated with mirror transfers of geishas holding umbrella on the front and there are at the back a couple of colourful lanterns (see pictures). The details of the vegetation and all the gilding is hand-painted.
Both vases stand about 37 cm / 14,5" high to the top of the lid knob. They are both stamped 'Made in England' at the bottom.
A knob on one of the lids was broken and put back – however this is barely noticeable. There is also a small chip on the rim of this lid, on the neck of the vase and some of the gilding is gone. Other than these details, these vases are still in a very good condition for being so old and delicate. They are real antiques with a stately charm and would look great on the mantelpiece of a stylish house.
